Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit 2022 in NYC

Since 1996, he has participated in more than 300 art exhibitions in the United States, many outstanding works are privately collected, most of the works are popular among young Americans. He has been persistent in exploring crystallization of art, and pursuing the ideas and colors of the works, bringing visual enjoyment to the art lovers.

Recently, from the internet, I encountered a middle-aged and self-taught painter born in Luo Mountain in Sichuan. He upheld an art territory in Beijing on his own, it is quite a lively scene. His paintings have humor but do not lack culture, elegant yet bold, classic yet worldly. His painting techniques are superb, he adopts large areas of transparent or semi-transparent colors for transition and expression, producing a special mystic atmosphere. He has strong foundation in life studies, and his skills mutually enhance each other. No doubt, he is a productive artist who embodies the spirit of both the east and the west.
When I paint, it is like “the tyrant forcing the bow”, I seldom listen to other people’s advice. I paint as I learn, learn as I paint, mostly I go with my feelings. I do not quite trust theories (except that I do study art history). So many works in art museums, so many books and magazines in art bookstores, what can you say about all those? I have been to many art museums abroad, seen quite many famous paintings, but when I come home and take up the brush, I can only paint according to my intuition.

I think good intuition is also a kind of talent, and diligence can make up for deficiency. One can become proficient without a teacher. Besides, many artists already have ample achievement in formal painting, so I try to explore every picture with a sense of “drama”. Actually, every event in life has some hidden elements of “drama”, what to do is only to discover them, to enlarge them, to step outside the old thinking mode, to be less rigid, to explore and feel more. Thus one can change the painting method, one can transmute the commonplace into the magical; at the same time, artists can avoid repeating each other.

Painting is not a profession, artists should not demand to be financially secure. It is very difficult to live by painting, yet you still choose it --- here lies its charm. An artist feels nothing more joyful than the desire to paint. I call this feeling “novel sensation”.
Life is mostly repetitive, only “novel sensation” keeps the spirit above fatigue. Artists are not satisfied with their current state even when they grow old, they are sensitive and innocent like children, they still plan and compose for the morrow. Braque was still planning to enlarge his studio shortly before his passing. This is like “paint not knowing death approaching”.

I personally feel that being a painter is a proof of the old saying that “one’s own son is the best”. Nowadays individual style is in vogue, an artist often keeps to one style in his lifetime. One can truly say that “one painter is as one Hamlet”. Being an artist seems glorious, but in fact it is a difficult life. It is most difficult to become fulfilled by a career in painting. Wise parents usually would prefer their children not to follow this path.
I remember the British painter Bacon once said something depressing to the painters: “Not a single artist knows if all he does has any value when he is still alive”. Although the Dutch painter De Kooning was trained in formal academy of art, he went to the United States and practiced abstract expressionism on the contrary. According to him, “style is a fraud, it is a debt to an enthusiastic and longing heart”.

My painting, entitled Tu Tu, is an imaginary abstraction which combines both real and virtual images using modern tools and techniques. As a child, I used to dream in vivid rainbow colours, as if to prophesy my future as a visual artist. A painter lives a life of curiosity in which colours and shapes of everyday objects can stimulate flights of fantasy in his fertile imagination. Examples of common objects might be a red chair or green garbage can. The painter’s creative temperament sees beauty in what many would see as ordinary in a mundane world.

While I did not formally train as an artist, including studying aesthetics, I have spent many decades practising my craft and honing my painting techniques. Each individual artwork has been created wherever I happen to be at the time — looking out of a window on a winter scene, in the shade of a tree on a hot summer’s day, or in my studio. Repetition is an important element in achieving satisfaction, rather than relying on luck.

Whenever I walk into an art museum or a private gallery, I am overcome with a feeling of profound veneration and a sense of the divine. Many artists could not realize their values, or not in time, before they passed away. Although their contemporary world was in their debt, their works shine on the wall, their passion in the time they lived still touch me.

Art Shows in Europe

Art is a sacred pursue, it is also a pursue full of hardship and struggle. I deeply appreciate the challenge faced by an artist, because my wife is an artist. Often times, an artist needs to struggle in loneliness for years or even decades without any reward or recognition . lt is like walking in a long, dark tunnel without seeing the light for very long time. Mr, Nie is such a traveler in solitude. However, instead of giving up, Mr. Nie fought like a true warrior. Using paint brush as his weapon, Mr. Nie created an artistic world full of amazing beauty. Mr. Nie’ s oil painting s are characterized by bold colors, free form, and a unique style that is different from anyone else’s.His work combines elements of impressionist masters such as Van Gogh and Monet with the creativity and freedom art, showing a deep contemplation of life with rich colors and romantic lines.
Of Mr. Nie’ s oil painting Modern Divine Comedy, the ln ferno uses subdued colors to show distorted human figures struggling in pain, and the paradiso lays bare the emptiness of a decadent materialism societyon a background of flowing gold. This thoughtful work serves as a vivid sculpture of the modern society, a sculpture built with brush and paint. The Thinker of Rodin is character sitting on the Gates of Hell. The oil paintings of Mr. Nie are colorful reflections of the vanity and darkness of a materialism society like the striking scenes in the Gates of Hell. Mr. Nie himself is the Thinker sitting atop the Gates of Hell, facing the struggle of life, and lighting up the world with unwavering spiritual pursue.
